1
Rate your anxiety level on a scale of 0 to10.
Tap the the side of your hand, below the pinky finger, and state your intention.
"Even though I have all this anxiety over ______ (get detailed on what is creating your anxiety) I am a good person and accept myself." (Repeat the statement three times.)
A sample statement might be: Even though I have all this anxiety over my job ending and I am afraid I will not be able to get another one I am a good person and I accept myself) -
2
Using the EFT chart as a guide move through the tapping points repeating a short reminder phrase (this is to keep you focused on your issue). Work on one issue at a time and try to be as specific as possible. Working with the scenario in Step 1 an example reminder phrase might be: "All this anxiety over my job."
-
3
Tap your wrists together over and under repeat ("all this anxiety...").
Tap the inside of the ankles covering as much of the inside part as possible ("this anxiety about my job...").
Tap the top of your head at the crown and repeat, ("this anxiety is a waste of my energy.") -
4
Check to see if the intensity level of your anxiety has changed. If your intensity level has lowered but is not gone you can repeat the tapping sequence until you feel that you are at zero.
-
5
Re-evaluate what is causing your anxiety if your intensity level is not being reduced. Try tapping on another issue or emotion to see if your anxiety level lowers.
