Yoga to Regrow Hair
-
Scientific Evidence
-
There is no known scientific evidence to suggest that practicing yoga will result in the re-growth of hair, but some yoga experts suggest that because practicing yoga regularly is known to improve blood circulation and relieve stress, it might result in slowed, delayed or decreased hair loss.
Alternative Treatment
-
Ayurvedic hair and scalp treatments are derived from the ancient text for yogis (practitioners of yoga), the "Bhagavad Gita." There is a traditional association between healthy hair and overall well-being, and an herb called "Eclipta alba" is believed to promote hair growth. Other methods of treating hair loss include medicinal remedies and scalp massage.
Considerations
-
While yoga might be helpful in some cases, there are some conditions that respond to topical or oral treatments prescribed by a physician. Also, there are some medical conditions, such as alopecia or scalp ringworm that warrant a visit to the dermatologist.
