1
Wash and dry your feet thoroughly before putting on shoes and socks. If your feet are damp when you put on your shoes and socks, you are encouraging fungus to grow. Be sure to dry thoroughly between your toes.
-
2
Sprinkle baby powder or cornstarch in your moisture-wicking socks. If you don't have money for special socks, choose socks made of natural materials -- for example, choose cotton over polyester socks.
-
3
Sprinkle baby powder or cornstarch in the bottom of your shoes and spread evenly throughout.
-
4
Wear shoes and socks only when necessary -- at home, go barefoot if you can, or wear flip-flops. This will help keep your feet dry. Fungus thrives in damp, dark conditions.
-
5
Alternate shoes, if you can, so that your shoes have a day to dry out before you wear them again.
-
6
Avoid showering in public showers, such as a locker room. If you must shower there rather than at home, wear flip-flops in the shower, to avoid picking up fungus.
