Sea Salt Remedies

Bathing
-
Soaking in a bathtub full of warm water and only 1 cup of sea salt can do wonders for your body, both externally and internally. A sea salt bath is known to alleviate joint pains from arthritis and counteract the effects of obesity. Defective glandular functions can lead to obesity. The absorption of sea salt helps to balance these functions. A sea salt bath also helps to heal wounds on the outside of the body and alleviates stress.
Gargling
-
Gargling a glass of warm water mixed with 1 to 2 tbsp. of sea salt is a simple and inexpensive treatment in place of purchasing expensive mouth rinses and medications. It is also a healthier, more natural means of ridding your body of harm instead of digesting manmade chemicals. Although it may not taste as good, gargling salt water can be used in place of minty mouthwashes to rid your mouth of bacteria. It also helps cure symptoms from allergies, colds and strep throat. The sea salt helps to decrease the swelling of the throat and alleviate any pain and itching.
Inhalation
-
A sea salt solution can also be inhaled through the nose as a method of curing a number of ailments. Mix 1 tbsp. of salt with 2 cups of water. Tilt your head back and gently inhale the warm, sea salt solution. It's best to do this over a sink with a handful of tissues available as this process can get a bit messy. The sea salt helps to reduce any inflammation in the nose. It alleviates pressure and rids the sinuses of congestion.
Exfoliant
-
Sea salt acts as an exfoliant when applied to the skin. A sea salt facial can be done by mixing 1 tbsp. of sea salt with 1 tbsp. of olive oil. Gently massage your face with the mixture for no longer than a minute before washing your face clean with fresh warm water. The facial clears dead skin and dirt and opens your pores. The scrub stimulates your body with the absorption of the natural minerals in the sea salt. It also helps to rid your body of toxins.
