Building on the tenants of homeopathy, Dr. Bach believed that 38 distinct personality structures governed differing reactions to illness and subsequent emotional or mental suffering.

Larch, One of the Bach Flower Essences Bach Flower Essences are made by sun-steeping the flower in spring or mineral water or boiled, filtered water that has cooled. The resultant liquid is often combined with a preservative such as brandy or vegetable glycerin. A few drops of the Essence can be placed under the tongue or in a glass of water.
