What is clozopam?
Clozapam (Leponex, Fazaclo, Clozaril) is an atypical antipsychotic, mainly used in treatment-resistant psychosis, obsessive-compulsive disorder, akathisia that doesn't respond to other drugs, psychosis resulting from Parkinson's disease, and agitation in dementia including schizophrenia, and autism.[25] It helps patients by calming them.
Its therapeutic advantages may outweigh the small risk of agranulocytosis provided white blood cell count monitoring takes place regularly during the first 18 weeks of therapy. Once patients pass initial risk phase with frequent blood testing they can then reduce frequency if bloods results have remained in desired range.[26]
