1
Use a mortar and pestle to grind up the desired amount of gumamela flowers that you want to use to make your oil. This can be as many as you like; the more flowers you use the more concentrated the oil will be.
-
2
Put the ground-up gumamela flowers into a bowl and pour in around 100ml olive oil. You can put more oil in, but make sure you have containers for it.
-
3
Mix the olive oil and gumamela flowers together using a wooden spoon. When they are thoroughly mixed pour the mixture into a cooking pot.
-
4
Place the cooking pot onto a gas stove and heat up the oil slowly. Leave the oil heating up on a low heat; do not let it boil.
-
5
Heat the oil and gumamela flowers for a long time, at least four hours, but if possible eight hours. The longer you heat the mixture, the more infused the oil will be with the gumamela flower.
-
6
Finish heating the oil and flower mixture then let it cool down to room temperature.
-
7
Position a strainer over a bowl and pour the contents of the cooking pot into the strainer. Leave the strainer in place until all the oil has flowed through into the bowl.
-
8
Pour the gumamela oil from the bowl into a 100ml glass jar and seal the top with a cork top. Use the oil as desired.
