How to Dilute Lavender Oil

Essential lavender oil has medicinal properties and is used to treat a number of conditions. The oil is mood altering and has a relaxing smell that can ease insomnia, stress and depression. It is also effective in treating joint and muscle pain, headaches, hair loss and skin problems, such as acne and eczema. Lavender essential oil should be diluted to between 2 and 3 percent in a carrier oil. This dilution recipe makes 1 fluid ounce of 2 percent lavender oil.
