How to make your own lavender eye pillow
Things You'll Need
- Fabric
- Tape measure
- Scissors
- Needle
- Thread
- 2 cups flaxseed
- 2 tbsp. dried lavender
- Bowl
- Pins
Instructions
-
-
1
Measure a 9-inch by 7-inch rectangle of fabric with your tape measure.
-
2
Cut out your fabric rectangle with scissors.
-
3
Thread your needle.
-
4
Place the fabric face up and sew the two 9-inch sides of the fabric together with a straight stitch (see Resources) to make a 9-inch-long tube with two open ends of 3 1/2 inches each. Do not tie off the thread.
-
5
Stitch the perpendicular open end of your fabric tube closed. Tie off the thread when finished.
-
6
Mix flaxseed and lavender in a bowl.
-
7
Turn the fabric tube inside out, so that the fabric is facing outward and no seams are visible.
-
8
Pour the flaxseed and lavender mixture into your fabric tube until it is approximately 2/3 full. Don't stuff the pillow completely. It should feel like a small bean bag.
-
9
Fold both sides of fabric on the open end toward one another. Secure the seam with pins.
-
10
Hand-sew the pinned fabric together using an oversewing stitch (see Resources). Tie off the end of the thread.
