Instructions

  1. Calm Down Overactive Kids with Essential Oils

    • 1

Choose 100 percent pure essential oils--only these offer healthful benefits. The label will state "100 percent pure." You can find them at health food stores and online. Don’t use synthetic oils.

    • 2

Choose which formula you prefer based on what your children like to smell. This means taking them with you and making the sniff test a fun activity. Formula #1 uses mandarin, marjoram, lavender and cedarwood essential oils. Formula #2 uses allspice, lavender, mandarin and vetiver.

    • 3

Prepare the mist spray bottle. Fill the bottle with four fluid ounces (or 120 ml) of purified water.

    • 4

Add the essential oils for Formula #1. To the water, add 40 drops of mandarin, 30 of marjoram, 30 of lavender and 20 of cedarwood.

    • 5

Add the oils for Formula #2. To the water, add 30 drops of allspice, 30 drops of chamomile, 30 drops of mandarin and 20 drops of vetiver.

    • 6

Cap the bottle and shake well to mix ingredients.

    • 7

Spritz 5-10 sprays of the mist in the air above or in front of your child so they can inhale it. Encourage them to take deep breaths.
