1
Mix your essential oils into the mineral oil in a measuring cup with a pour spout. Add approximately 12 drops of the essential oils to every quarter cup of mineral oil. Then add a quarter-teaspoon of vodka and thoroughly mix. Essential oils can be mixed as you desire. For example, six drops of lavender could be mixed with six drops of chamomile.

2
Pour the oil mixture into your glass bottle so that there is about one or two inches of oil at the bottom of the bottle. The ideal glass bottle will be between four and six inches tall with a wide base and narrow neck. Insert the reeds or bamboo skewers into the bottle. Start with four to six reeds and adjust depending on the size of the bottle.

3
Flip the reeds every few days to enhance the oil saturation. Gently remove one reed at a time and place the dry end into the oil. Repeat for each reed. This prevents over-saturating one end of the reed and causing it to prematurely deteriorate. Refill the bottle with oils as necessary.
