It is always best to see your physician to have a proper diagnosis and to discuss alternative medicines before taking them. Many herbs and supplements are beneficial and can be potent, but the United States Food and Drug Administration has not evaluated them for their effectiveness or interactions with other herbs, drugs or foods. So let your physician know all the medicines you take to make sure there are not adverse interactions or side effects. If you are interested in Ayurvedic medicine, you might want to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner as well.
