1
Brush your teeth.
-
2
Do this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
-
3
Measure out 1 tablespoon of oil.
-
4
Place the oil in your mouth and begin to swish it around slowly like mouthwash. Make sure to pull it through your teeth as well. It is believed that the swishing activates enzymes that will pull toxins out of the blood.
-
5
Swish for 15-20 minutes. This might seem like a long time, but you can pass the time by doing this while you go through your normal morning routine.
-
6
Tilt your head back as you swish. This will help the oil get all the way back to your molars.
-
7
Do not swallow the oil. Oil pulling practitioners believe the oil is now toxic. It won't hurt you to swallow it. After all, any toxins in the oil were already in your body. But it will negate the 15-20 minutes of swishing you just completed.
-
8
Spit the oil out, preferably into the toilet. It should be thin and white. If it is still yellow, you should try swishing longer next time. If you choose to spit into the sink, thoroughly clean the sink afterward.
-
9
Rinse and clean your mouth out thoroughly with tap water and your fingers. Or brush your teeth again.
