When i inhale my left side hurts why?
There are a few possible reasons why your left side hurts when you inhale. It could be a sign of a muscle strain or injury in the chest wall. It could also be a sign of a more serious condition, such as a heart problem or a lung problem.
Here are some possible causes of left-sided pain when inhaling:
- Muscle strain or injury: If you have recently done any strenuous activity, such as lifting heavy weights or playing sports, you may have strained or injured a muscle in your chest wall. This can cause pain when you inhale, as the muscles contract.
- Costochondritis: Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects your ribs to your breastbone. It can cause pain in the chest, especially when you inhale. Costochondritis is often caused by a viral infection or trauma to the chest.
- Pleurisy: Pleurisy is an inflammation of the pleura, the membrane that lines your lungs. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including infection, trauma, and autoimmune disorders. Pleurisy can cause chest pain, shortness of breath, and coughing.
- Pneumonia: Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs. It can cause a variety of symptoms, including chest pain, fever, chills, and shortness of breath.
- Heart problems: Some heart problems, such as angina and a heart attack, can also cause left-sided pain when inhaling. Angina is a condition that occurs when the heart muscle doesn't get enough blood. A heart attack occurs when the blood supply to the heart is completely blocked.
If you are experiencing left-sided pain when inhaling, it is important to see a doctor to rule out any serious underlying conditions. Your doctor will likely recommend some tests, such as a chest X-ray, an electrocardiogram (ECG), and blood tests.
