Can you swim if have cough?
Swimming can be enjoyed by most people, regardless of their health status. However, you should avoid swimming if you have a cough in these situations:
1. When your symptoms are severe. If you are coughing frequently and you have difficulty breathing, you should not go swimming.
2. When you are on certain medications. Some medications can cause drowsiness or dizziness, which can be dangerous while swimming. Be sure to read and understand all medication labels before getting into the water.
3. If the pool is crowded. When there are a lot of people in a pool, the water can become contaminated with bacteria and viruses. This can increase risk of infection, especially if you are already feeling unwell.
If you have a minor cough but you still want to swim, there are a few things you can do to make it safer:
1. Limit the amount of time you spend in the water. If your symptoms are still mild, you can probably still go for a swim, but try to limit your time in the water to 30 minutes or less.
2. Stay in the shallow end. This will reduce your risk of injury and make it easier for you to exit the pool if you start feeling worse.
3. Wear a mask or goggles. This can help to protect your nose and mouth from the water and prevent you from inhaling any harmful bacteria.
Listen to your body and stop if you do not feel well.
