Golden Flower Chinese Herbs

The Golden Flower Chinese Herb Company is a large and respected distributor of Chinese herbs. The company states it carries a wide variety of herbs, to be used by certified practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine. Because the herbs are powerful medicines and not food ingredients, the company does not sell to the general public.
  1. Company History

    • Two Doctors of Oriental Medicine, John Scott and Lorena Monda, started Golden Flower Chinese Herbs in 1990. Both doctors practiced acupuncture and herbal treatments before starting Golden Flower Herb Company. Realizing a source of pure, high-quality herbs (with no additives) was lacking in the marketplace, they decided to start the venture.

    Products Carried

    • The company states it carries more than 700 different extracts. These include granulated and dried formulas. Also, Golden Flower has developed 95 specialty formulas, which are "in-house" blends. Golden Flower states it can develop special formulas, base upon a clinician's request. Golden Flower also carries acupuncture and medical supplies, such as needles and cupping units.

    Quality Control

    • Scott and Monda state that their herbs are additive free, the correct species, and tested for pesticides or contaminants. The herbs are also fresh, since potency may be lost over time. The company sources their herb granules from KPC Herbs and their topical products from Spring Wind Topical Products. Golden Flower trusts these two companies, noting that KPC adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices.

    No Retail Sales

    • Golden Flower does not retail to the consumer market, because the herbs are medicines and not foodstuffs. They only sell to licensed clinicians, and must have a copy of your state license. They also sell to students of Chinese medicine, and must have a copy of your student ID. Furthermore, the buying and reselling of their products to the consumer market is prohibited.
