Can bacitracin zinc ointment work on bacterial vaginosis?
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common vaginal infection caused by an imbalance of the good and bad bacteria that normally live in the vagina. BV is not typically treated with antibiotics. Instead, it is treated with antibacterial medications that are specifically designed to kill the harmful bacteria that cause BV. Bacitracin zinc ointment is an antibiotic that is used to treat skin infections. It is not effective against the type of bacteria that cause BV.
