How to Clean Healing Crystals

Crystals that are used for healing will need periodic cleansing. This is to keep the outer surface clean, but it refers to cleansing the energy within the crystal as well. There are several methods that are effective for clearing crystal energy. A few of them are listed here, from simplest to most complicated. Some crystals are too delicate for all methods mentioned here. A knowledge of the substance of the crystals you are working with is recommended. Things You'll Need

• Crystals
• Glass bowl
• Sage
• Abalone shell
• Matches or lighter
• Salt
• Sand
• Dirt
• Water

Light Methods

  Place crystal in bowl or other container.

• 2

  Place container in sunlight or moonlight. Be sure container is in a place where it will not be disturbed by other people, animals or elements.

  Leave crystal in the light for a time that feels right to you.

  Remove and use at will.

Water Methods

• 5

  Place crystal in a bowl.

• 6

  Fill the bowl with water.

• 7

  Leave the crystals in the bowl for an amount of time that feels right.

  Crystal can also be held in running water--the tap or a moving stream--for the same effect.

  Remove crystal from water and pat dry.

Salt and Earth Methods

  Place crystal in a bowl.

  Fill bowl with salt, sand or dirt.

  Leave for an amount of time that feels right.

  Remove from earth.

  Rinse and pat dry if necessary.

Smoke Method

  Place dried sage in a fire proof container, like an abalone shell.

  Light the sage on fire.

• 17

  Blow out the sage so that it smolders and lots of smoke is rising from the container.

  Hold the crystal in the smoke for an amount of time that feels right.
