Seven Crystal Massage Tools

Many people enjoy a good massage when they are tense or have painful knots in their muscles. Some go to a chiropractor, but others prefer a more esoteric solution. Crystal massage involves using crystals of different shapes to rub muscles. Many believe the crystals focus healing energy into the body during the massage, making the results happen faster and last longer. Popular healing crystals include rose quartz, amethyst and many agates.
  1. Acupressure Wands

    • Acupressure wands are long and thin one rounded end and one pointed end. The masseur rubs a rounded end over tensed muscles and muscle knots, pushing gently to loosen them up. He or she also presses the pointed end into pressure points on the body for acupressure and reflexology.

    Gemstone Mats

    • Gemstone mats are made from gemstone marbles strung together to form a large hexagon that contains many small hexagons. Some mats may contain just one type of gemstone while others may contain several so the different energies can mix during use. The masseur places the mat on the body and presses down gently, rolling it over tensed muscles.

    Gemstone Soap Bars

    • Gemstone soap bars are carved in the shape of rectangular soap bars with a slight curve. They are not good for intense massage but work well for relaxing sore muscles. The masseur places the soap bar on the body, presses down gently, and strokes the bar up and down the body, using both the outward and inward curving sides to achieve different sensations.

    Rolling Wands

    • Rolling wands are simple cylinders with flat ends. The masseur simply places the cylinder horizontally on a body part and rolls it over the area with the flat of his or her palm. Gentle pressure massages sore muscles while harder pressure loosens knots.

    Gemstone Egg

    • Egg-shaped gemstones are pretty visually and also useful for healing massage. The masseur can roll the egg on its side over aching body parts, either up and down or in a circular motion. The broad, rounded end and narrow end can move the same way and offer less or greater pinpoint pressure.

    Spoon Wands

    • Spoon wands are thick, cylindrical wands with ends that curve like the back of a spoon. The masseur can roll the wand flat over areas of the body or push the spoon-shaped ends in lines over sore areas, much like one would push a plow in a garden.

    Spiral Wands

    • Spiral wands are cylinders with twists carved into the body. The ends are always rounded. The masseur rolls the twisted body flat over tense areas; the texture helps loosen muscles. The rounded ends are useful for loosening thick knots.
