When would you provide a nasal cannula instead of rebreather face mask?
Nasal cannula is preferred over rebreather mask in the following situations:- Patient has claustrophobia or feels significant discomfort with the rebreather face mask.
- Patient’s respiratory status is stable, and they are not experiencing significant respiratory distress or requiring high flow oxygen.
- Patient is awake, alert, and cooperative and will maintain the cannula in place without needing constant adjustment or repositioning.
