It's important to seek medical attention if you have sudden hearing loss or a feeling of fullness or popping in your ear that doesn't resolve on its own. Here are some things you can do while you wait to see a doctor:
1. Stay hydrated: Swallowing can help equalize pressure in your ears, so try drinking water or chewing gum.
2. Use over-the-counter ear drops: These can help to remove excess earwax and relieve pressure.
3. Avoid sudden pressure changes: This can include activities like flying, scuba diving, or driving up or down a mountain.
4. Apply a warm compress: This can help to improve circulation and reduce pain.
5. Avoid using cotton swabs or other objects in your ear. This can further damage your eardrum or push earwax deeper into the ear canal.
6. Rest: Give your body time to rest and heal.
If your symptoms do not improve, worsening, or you experiences pain in your ear, it is important to see a doctor as soon as possible.
