Directions to Make Flor-Essence
Flor-Essence tea, which comprises such plants and herbs as watercress, slippery elm and red clover, advertises itself as a "cellular regenerator and detoxifier" that can keep environmental toxins from accumulating in the body. You can buy Flor-Essence as a cream, tea or ready-to-use liquid. If you purchased your Flor-Essence in tea form, you must brew it before use.Things You'll Need
- 12-quart or larger ceramic, glass or porcelain pot with lid
- Two stainless-steel pots
- Large strainer
- Measuring cup
- 32-ounce canning jar (one per tea pouch brewed)
- Spoon
Instructions

-
1
Pour 5 cups of water into the 12-quart pot, and add the contents of 1 tea pouch. Stir the contents, and then cover the pot with the lid.
-
2
Put the pot on a stove burner, and set the heat to high. When the water starts to boil, reduce to medium heat and allow the tea to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
-
3
Take the pot off the burner and remove the lid. Use a spoon to scrape any herbs stuck to the pot back into the water. Cover the pot with the lid, and set it aside to steep for at least 12 hours.
-
4
Sterilize the canning jar by filling it with hot water. Place the jar into a pot containing enough hot water to cover the jar. If necessary, lay the jar on its side. Put the pot on a burner, and turn the heat up so the water boils for 10 minutes. Do the same with the jar's lid in a separate pot.
-
5
Remove the lid from the pot containing the Flor-Essence tea. Stir the liquid, and set the pot on a burner. Turn the heat up to high, and wait for the liquid to emit steam.
-
6
Place the strainer over the measuring cup. Pour the pot's liquid into the cup through the strainer. Use a spoon to stir and press down on the sediment remaining in the strainer, until you have extracted all the liquid. Pour the liquid into the sterilized jar, and seal it with the lid. Let the tea cool before using it.
