6 Week Detox Diet
Because of the duration of this diet, make sure you're eating healthy foods while cleansing your system. A six-week detox diet can be a great fix to poor eating habits during winter months, or simply to clean out the toxins that accumulate in your body over time. By detoxing for six weeks, you can help restore energy levels and correct imbalances in your system that may cause digestive and other problems.-
Choosing the Right Foods
-
Most important, steer yourself toward organic foods, as they don't carry the toxins from chemical treatments that other foods do. Avoid processed foods, drink 100-percent fruit drinks, and stay away from beverages that contain caffeine or carbonation. Avoid anything with artificial flavors or sweeteners, or anything packed with preservatives. Stop smoking if you currently do, and do not consume alcohol or any other drug---aspirin included---during your detox. However, if you are on prescription medications, consult your physician before beginning the diet.
Establishing a Routine
-
Your basic cleansing diet starts with a breakfast of 250mL of fruit juice, 5 tbsp. of cottage cheese, and 25g of fruit. For both lunch and dinner, drink 2 cups of vegetable broth and eat 4 cups of salad that comprise at least four different vegetables, along with a glass of milk. For dinner, steam all the vegetables you want, add butter, and enjoy a fruit salad for desert. Vegetable broth is permissible for between-meal snacks. Once a week, if you feel deficient in protein, you may add up to 6 oz. of organic meat other than beef to your meal.
Consider taking calcium and multivitamin supplements for the duration of the diet. Fish-oil tablets are also recommended---you can get essential proteins and fats this way, which will improve your diet's health over the course of the six weeks.
