Effects of a Kidney Cleanse on Simple Cysts
A simple kidney cyst is a blister-like formation on your kidney or one of the ducts inside your kidney. These cysts have a thin wall, are regular in shape and are filled with liquid. According the National Institutes of Health site, about thirty percent of people over fifty years old will have at least one simple cyst on their kidneys. Most of these cysts pose no health risk, and rarely cause any symptoms.-
Diagnosis and Usual Treatment
-
Since most simple cysts are asymptomatic, you probably won’t know you have one unless it happens to show up on an ultrasound or CT prescribed for some other condition. Some people are genetically predisposed to a condition called polycystic kidney disease that results in many cysts, but the two are not related. You can opt not to treat simple cysts because they do not usually threaten your health or lead to other conditions like cancer.
If you and your doctor decide to treat the cyst or cysts, the usual procedure is to insert a long needle through the skin to puncture and drain the cyst, then apply a solution of alcohol to create scar tissue so it won’t re-form. Sometimes the cyst will completely disappear with this treatment, and sometimes it will only be partially removed.
Kidney Cleanse
-
Cleanse your kidneys of calcium and other deposits by using some simple ingredients you can find at the grocery store. While these cleansing routines are normally used to treat and prevent kidney stones and infections, they help to improve your overall renal health.
Mix ¼ cup lemon juice and ¼ cup olive oil and drink it down quickly. After this, drink several glasses of filtered water throughout the day. If you have had trouble with kidney stones, this remedy will help dissolve the stones and make them easier to pass.Try hydrangea root tincture in raw apple juice if the lemon juice and oil cure does not appeal to you. Take twenty to thirty drops of the tincture in an eight ounce glass of juice three times a day.
These remedies are helpful for kidney infections and stones, but there is no evidence that they will do anything to remove or shrink simple cysts. According to Hunter Wessells, M.D. of the Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, these cysts are probably caused by the tubes in the kidney thinning out and expanding. Eating a diet that is kidney friendly (i.e., has plenty of whole vegetables and fruits and clean water) can maintain the overall good function of your kidneys, which may lower your risk of having cysts and other problems. Once the cysts are there, however, if they cause discomfort you will need to consult with your health care provider for a remedy.
