Homemade Oils for Wraps That Remove Toxins From the Body

Essential Oils
-
Body wraps using essential oils may help to pull toxins out of many different areas of the body. Essential oils can be used alone or in combination with others. Essential oils should always be mixed with a neutral base oil such as almond or vegetable oil before using them in a detoxifying wrap. Oils believed to have detoxifying properties include rose, cypress, juniper berry, fennel, black pepper, parsley, carrot seed, coriander, sage, frankincense, grapefruit, lemon, bitter orange and nutmeg.
For a powerful detoxifying combination, try combining lemon, juniper berry, seaweed, and fennel oils. Another powerful detox combination is fir, fennel, hyssop, patchouli, and helichrysm. However, remember to mix these oils with your neutral base oil.

Body wraps can be messy so you should apply the wrap while standing in the bathtub. First take a warm shower to help open up your pores for maximum absorption of the oils. Rub the combination of oils all over your skin to get a good covering. Use either thin towels or sheets to cover your body. Many spas will recommend you use specific wrapping sheets to help squeeze the toxins from your body. Once you are covered, lay in your bathtub for approximately 45 minutes to allow the oils to seep into your skin. You can use a thermal blanket to cover up with to help keep you warm. To make the experience more relaxing, try playing some soothing music while your wrap works.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, preferably warm water, to help flush the toxins from your body. Eat light on your treatment day, avoiding excessively fatty foods, high protein foods, salt and sugar, alcohol, coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks.
