Detox With a Therapeutic Enema
Coffee enemas can be used to detoxify the colon gallbladder and liver as an alternative to more expensive colonic cleansing procedures.-
Preparing the Solution
-
Percolate a pot of organic coffee using an electric coffee percolator or stove-top percolator. Use one to two scoops or organic coffee in a percolator filled with distilled water. If water purity is a concern in your area, use filtered tap water, bottled water from the store or water from a water well. Allow the percolated coffee to cool to a temperature of 103 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pour two cups of coffee into an enema bag. Fill the remainder of the enema bag with lukewarm filtered tap water, water from a well or bottled water from the store. Hang the enema bag approximately 18 to 24 inches above the hip in the area where you will be administering the enema. Place an old blanket, bed sheet or plastic sheet on the floor to allow for easy cleanup in case you end up having a bowel movement somewhere other than the toilet while administering the enema.
Administering the Enema
-
Release the clamp from the enema bag tubing before you insert the enema tip into the rectum to ensure there is no air in the enema tubing. Lubricate the enema tip with a water soluble lubricant such as KY gel, then insert the tip into the rectum. Massage the abdomen in a counterclockwise direction to allow the coffee solution to flow deeply into the rectum. Administer the enema using the knee-chest position for one minute, then moving to the left side position for one minute, then on the back to administer the remaining enema solution. Stop the flow of the enema solution if you notice cramping. Take a few deep cleansing breaths and resume the flow. You may not be able to take the entire enema at one time. Try to retain the coffee enema solution for at least 15 minutes before expelling.
Expelling the enema
-
Expel the enema on the toilet or on the plastic sheet. Regardless of where the enema will be expelled, you should sit in a squatting position. Massage the abdomen in a clockwise direction to help the enema flow out of the body. Remain near the toilet or on the plastic sheet for a few minutes after you expel the first portion of the coffee enema solution. Listen for the gurgling sound in the abdomen. This is the sound of bile leaving the gallbladder and liver and indicates that the coffee enema has begun to detoxify the body.
