Detox Colon Cleanse for Parasites

Parasites come in many shapes and sizes, from a single cell amoeba to 30-foot tapeworms that inhabit the digestive tract. They feed off your body, and leech energy and nutrition from you. Symptoms range from flu-like tiredness, fever and coughing at the beginning of an infection to long-term problems like an irritable bowel and frequent digestive upset. Parasites make it difficult to absorb nutrients and can cause vitamin deficiencies. A plan to kill parasites, detoxify the colon and provide it with proper nutrition will support the growth of healthy organisms.
  1. Herbal Cleansing

    • Health Food stores stock a variety of herbal blends to cleanse the colon of parasites. Using two formulas together helps to kill the infection and remove waste and dying organisms. A formula to empty the bowels works best at night. Look for a blend that includes cascara sagrada, senna or tri-phala to aggressively purge the colon; or use flaxseed, rhubarb, licorice or red raspberry to achieve a more gentle laxative affect. A second formula to rid the body of harmful microbes is helpful to take daily during the cleanse. These herbs include garlic, mullein, wormwood (or absinthe), black walnut, cloves, turmeric and cayenne, among others.

    Internal Environment

    • Your colon must maintain a balanced environment of healthy microbes and chemicals to break down your food into the proper nutrients. This enables your body to function optimally. The herbs marshmallow, fennel and pau d'arco restore the colon to the proper alkalinity/acidity balance. Also supplement your diet with a capsule of probiotics containing some of the good bacteria that colonize your digestive tract. Certain plants called fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) provide food for the bacteria your body should be maintaining. Your probiotic formula may contain FOS, or you may prefer to supplement them.

    Diet

    • Avoid sugar, sweet fruits, refined carbohydrates and pork. These foods feed the parasitic organism and do not provide optimal nutrition. Foods such as pineapple, which contains bromelain, yogurt with healthy acidophilus, nuts and seeds, whole grains and raw vegetables will help your body rid itself of harmful microbes. Essential fatty acids, such as those you receive from a fish oil or flaxseed oil supplement, help protect the intestinal tract.

    Cautions

    • Remember that an unchecked parasite will continue to multiply. Look for an herbal blend that will help kill the eggs. Seek a doctor's advice before using herbs such as absinthe and black walnut. These herbs may have harmful side effects if not taken properly and should never be used by a pregnant or nursing woman.
