Detoxification Through Foot Soaking

Detoxification is one natural cure that many naturalists believe helps cure our bodies. They believe that detoxification removes the harmful chemicals that enter our body through pollution, food preservatives and poor diet. One of the ways this is done is by soaking your feet in a detoxification footbath machine. Understanding how this process works can help you decide if it's right for you.
  1. Process

    • The process starts with your feet in a detoxification footbath machine. These machines can be found online or at natural healing stores. They usually cost a couple of thousand dollars. However, they are also available to rent at a fraction of the cost. The machine has a small soaking area filled with water and salt. There are small electrodes inside. Small amounts of electricity will pass through your feet which supposedly causes a process called electrolysis. The salt allegedly ionizes the electrical current, which splits the electrical current into positive and negative ions. The negative ions will then enter your body through your feet. While you sit and soak, these ions allegedly travel up through your body and attach to toxins. The ions will then pass out of your feet and into the water where they will deposit the toxins. You simply have to sit while the machine runs. When the process is finished, the water is then supposed to be filled with the toxins from your body, which look like soap suds and are various colors.

    The Colors

    • The colors of the "toxins" are supposed to indicate where they originated in your body. White foam indicates toxins from your lymph system. This system includes lymph nodes and other filtering systems in the body. Clumpy cheese-like particles are allegedly yeast pulled out of your system. Black flecks indicate heavy metals that may have gotten into your body like lead and iron. Red flecks come from the circulatory system and generally indicate blood clots that have been broken up by the detoxification process. It is important to note that this process has not been scientifically tested. The evidence that supports this process is mostly anecdotal including testimonials, which do not prove that the process is effective.
