How to Cleanse During Menstruation
The purpose of a cleanse is to remove stored toxins from your body that may be causing you to be constantly tired, acquiring frequent colds or dealing with difficulty in concentrating. There are many types of cleansing programs available to choose from: strict fasting cleanses to supplements that aid in digestion and liver/kidney function. When menstruating, it is best not to go on a strict fasting cleanse as you will become increasingly tired from the lack of calories and more susceptible to anemia as you lose iron during menstruation. You may still partake of a cleanse just with extreme moderation.Things You'll Need

1
Choose an herbal tea or supplement that you can take while menstruating. Common herbs and supplements that are used in cleansing are milk thistle, dandelion root, ginger, sarsaparilla and parsley.
-
2
Drink the herbal tea or take the supplement twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Take these prior to eating so your liver and kidneys will have an easier time digesting your meal.
-
3
Use your menstruation as a time of meditation and rest. You will already be slightly off your best dealing with cramps and lack of energy, so pamper yourself to allow your body to heal. If you can lighten your work load and reduce stress at this time, you will be much more successful in your cleanse.

4
Drink a lot of water to flush out toxins and hydrate your body. You should drink at least two liters of water per day while cleansing.
-
5
Avoid processed foods, cigarettes and alcohol. These will only add toxins to your system and continue to tax your liver and kidneys.
-
6
Drink a chamomile tea at night to relax you and relieve cramping. This will help you sleep better and restore your energy levels.
