Home Remedy for Clogged Intestines
Clogged intestines are often a result of constipation, which occurs when you do not eat enough fiber, consume enough liquid or have eaten meals without fully chewing your food. Home remedies for clogged intestines allow you to clean the system as needed and prevent the discomfort associated with constipation.-
Fiber
-
One of the most important ways to reduce clogged intestines is to make sure you are getting at least 25 g of fiber each day. Fiber is necessary for digestion because it helps to remove buildup of waste and toxins from the intestine and colon.
Fiber has two sources: insoluble and soluble. Soluble fiber is found in food such as beans, apples, flax seed and the natural herb, psyllium. Insoluble fiber is found in the skins of vegetables and fruits, as well as whole grains. Try to get your fiber by incorporating fruits, vegetables and whole grains into daily meals.
Liquids
-
A variety of home remedies for clogged intestines include increasing fluid intake. To keep the system moving smoothly, try to drink at least 64 ounces of water each day especially if you are eating fiber. Without water, fiber absorbs moisture in the intestines and may cause clogged intestines. To increase movement in the intestines, mix ½ cup of olive oil with ½ cup of citrus juice and drink before bed.
Also, try to drink water as soon as you get up in the morning to get the intestines flowing. You may also use a natural, fibrous herb like psyllium to help push out waste from the intestines. Mix 3 tbsp. of the herb with an 8 oz. glass of water and drink at bedtime each day you feel constipated.
Exercise
-
In combination with a healthy diet and drinking plenty of liquids, exercise may help keep bowel movements regular. Exercise for at least 30 minutes most days of the week.
