What Do I Have to Do to Complete the Fruit Flush Diet?
The fruit flush diet is a three-day program to detoxify the body of buildup and toxins that cause sluggishness, lack of concentration and bloating. Created by nutritionist Jay Robb, this diet claims to help drop weight and remove toxins from the body for optimal health.-
What is the Fruit Flush?
-
The foundation of the diet is fruit, which is high in water, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Fruit also has low-glycemic levels of carbohydrates, which help keep blood sugar levels stable, as opposed to simple sugar carbohydrates, which cause spikes and crashes in energy and blood sugar levels. Low-glycemic carbohydrates thus maintain energy levels and help remove toxins from the body.
A person on the fruit flush diet drinks a protein shake every two hours for the first day, resulting in five shakes. Dinner on the first day consists of a raw vegetable salad topped with lean protein such as chicken and drizzled in olive oil.
The second and third days consists of eating nothing but fresh, raw fruit throughout the entire day and eating a raw vegetable salad and protein shake for dinner.
Food Recommendations
-
While on the fruit flush diet, Robb suggests certain foods for success. There are no limits to what fruits you choose; however, a variety of choices and colors ensures you get many vitamins, minerals and other nutrients or antioxidants. Olive oil should be used to top dinner salads, and avocado is suggested for use as a topping for salads. Lean proteins include fish, poultry, egg whites and lean beef.
Suggestions
-
During the fruit flush diet, Robb suggests refraining from any exercise to maintain energy levels. You will need to purchase enough fruit for two days of eating, as well as whey protein powder for the shakes.
