Homemade Body Detox
In diets, the term detox simply means removing waste from your body. Our bodies are exposed to chemicals, toxins and environmental pollutants every day. The benefits of doing a cleanse is to remove these toxins, resulting in higher energy levels, clearer skin, brighter eyes and overall better health. Though detox diets are a bit controversial, it is certainly common knowledge that diets full of fresh fruits and vegetables provide more energy, a strong immune system and a healthier overall feeling. Try the diet below for a few days and start feeling better soon.-
Go Clean
-
When participating in the detox, avoid red meat, dairy products, any food that is white such as sugar and flour. Also do without caffeine and alcohol.
Get Your Fruits and Veggies
-
During the cleanse, eat tons of fresh fruit, veggies, lentils and whole grains such as brown rice. Vegetables known for their cleansing abilities include lettuce, celery and asparagus. If you find it hard to make time to eat vegetables, blended smoothies are a great way to get them into your system.
Drink, Drink, Drink
-
Drink at least eight glasses of water a day. This helps to flush toxins from your system. If that amount of water seems too much, try sparkling water or flavoring it with a squeeze of lime or lemon juice.
Discover Tea
-
Herbal teas are a wonderful alternative to coffee. Some decaf options are peppermint, aniseed, lemon verbena, caraway, basil and fennel. These herbal teas work to soothe and calm your internal systems, helping with the cleanse.
Fresh Start
-
Start each day with a tea made of hot water and the juice of half a lemon. This will jump-start the cleanse, aid your digestion, and help to flush out toxins. Feel free to sweeten it with honey if you like.
