Liver Cleansing Methods
A liver filled with toxins can lead to numerous problems in the body. Recently liver detoxification has become an important part of holistic health. While there are many over-the-counter chemical methods on the market, there are also natural ways to cleanse the liver. If you have any specific physical concerns, consult your physician before undertaking any of these techniques.-

First, curb your consumption of alcohol and saturated fats, as well as the use of any drugs other than those prescribed by your doctor. Prepare to drink 64 oz. (or eight glasses) of water for each cleanse per day. The first cleanse requires cascara sagrada capsules, 2 tbsp. of olive oil, the juice of two grapefruits, and the juice of half a lemon. Take two cascara sagrada capsules after dinner, followed by a mix of the citrus fruits with olive oil just before bed. This will help you to cleanse your liver overnight and is safe to do every few months.

At 10 p.m., drink a mixture of the juice of one of the fruits and ½ cup of olive oil. On the second day, drink the Epsom salt mixture upon waking and two hours later, followed by light meals and a lack of fatty foods throughout the rest of the day. Milk thistle is an herb that is often used in teas and supplements that clean the liver. Garlic is a great detoxifier of the blood and can help remove chemical residues from the body. Hot water and lemon juice is used in many different cleanses and can help to cleanse both the liver and the blood. Fruits rich in antioxidants like apples and berries can help stop the actions of free radicals on the liver. Cruciferous vegetables---including cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts---can help protect the liver from many toxins, including those in cigarette smoke.
