Homemade Colon Cleanser Recipe

There are many types of homemade colon cleansers. Perhaps the easiest is one popularized by health advocate and author Edgar Cayce: the apple-colon cleanse.
Consume nothing but apples (and water) for three to four days. This will be easy to follow. On the last day, take two tablespoons of olive oil to clear the bowels.
  1. The Benefits of the Apple-Cleansing Diet

    • By consuming organic apples, you get soluble and insoluble fiber, apple pectin and vitamin C. Good apples to use are Arkansas Russet, Delicious, Black Arkansas, Jenneting, Jonathan, Oregon Red and Sheepnose.
Any organic apple will do as long as you chew it thoroughly.
Continue to stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.

How Often Can I Do This Colon Cleanse?

    • This apple-cleansing diet can be done once a month, for two to three months, according to Carrie L'Esperance, author of The Seasonal Cookfire (Bear & Co. Publishing, 1998). She discusses several other cleansing diets and writes that this apple-cleansing diet will remove waste from the colon.
Most people who follow this diet will not have any difficulty colon cleansing, as apples are high in fiber and apple pectin.

What Is the Olive Oil For?

    • The olive oil is to clear any remaining waste from the colon that you may not be releasing from the early days of the apple-cleansing diet. If you experience any severe constipation, take cascara sagrada as a supplement to clear the bowels daily.
On the fourth day of the apple diet, take two tablespoons of organic olive oil. If it is hard to get down, place half a cut lemon or orange in your mouth to cut the taste of the oil.

Continue to stay hydrated the rest of the day and gradually add back easily-digested foods such as steamed vegetables, brown rice, and small amounts of non-fat, unsweetened yogurt for two days.
