The Process Of Colon Hydrotherapy Detoxification
-
A licensed colon therapist usually administers the colon hydrotherapy detoxification procedure at their place of business. They charge about $60-$100 per session. Each session usually lasts about forty minutes. Some colon therapists share office space with other alternative medicine practitioners such as reflexologists, massage therapists and acupuncturists.
The patient is typically taken into a room where they disrobe, lie on a table with a basin at one end and insert a speculum or plastic tube in their rectum. They are then given a lubricant before insertion to reduce chaffing and ease the speculum in place. A sheet is used to cover the patient's private areas.
The colon therapist usually enters the room at this point only to set the initial water temperature and turn it on. Water temperatures can vary from below body temperature up to about 104 degrees. Varying the water temperature during treatment is often recommended as both lower and higher temperatures have their inherent benefits.
Most colon therapists use a self-contained colon machine that operates by itself without interruption. Once the water temperature is set, the colon therapist turns on a supply of continuous, oxygenated and sterilized water. The water supply is elevated above the water control implements where it enters the patient's colon through the speculum. The water will gradually fill the large intestine, which is about five feet in length and two inches in diameter. About 25 to 30 gallons of water will be used in the process.
A patient is asked to hold the water in his intestine as long as he can before dispensing it in the basin. This commences the process of separating encrustations and fecal material from the colon walls. The feces is usually covered in mucus and hard to dispel through ordinary bowel movements.
The colon therapist often gives the patient a vibrating instrument to rub across their abdomen to aid in ridding the colon walls of waste materials. This instrument can be used for a few minutes or throughout the entire session.
Each time the water is dispelled in the basin at the foot of the table, it enters into a large tubal structure which usually runs along the base of the wall. Patients are asked to keep a continual watch on the color and form of the material that comes out of them. After the session, they will be asked questions about it. For example, a patient may have seen a lot of undigested food; or a lot of white fluid, which is usually yeast. Toxins from the liver usually have a yellow hue.
Since colon hydrotherapy detoxification is a very private process, many colon therapists leave the room and only return if the patient needs assistance. They set a timer to notify the patient when time is up. After the patient is finished, they are often given a supply of probiotics rectally; or later by mouth. This helps them replenish the flora lost during the cleansing process. Electrolytes are often mixed in with the oral solution.
Once the water is turned off, a patient is asked to dispel as much of the residual water as possible before getting dressed and washing up. They then use the toilet to make sure they get rid of all the water. At this point, it is important to spend at least five minutes on the toilet to rid the body of all water. This can help prevent an embarrassing episode later in the day.
Key Benefits
-
People can literally have up to 45 or 50 pounds of fecal matter stored in their large intestine. Some of it is stuck to the walls of the colon for years. As a result, toxins and foreign bacteria can harbor in this area and eventually cause disease or an illness.
Colon hydrotherapy detoxification has a number of benefits. First, vitamins and minerals are absorbed through the walls of the colon. Deficiencies of vital nutrients can result from an impacted and unclean colon. Irrigating the bowels can foment the body's use of these nutrients.
Colon therapy also rids the colon of invasive bacteria. If this bacteria remains in the colon too long it can lower its pH levels. A lower pH level can create an environment suitable for harmful parasites to reside. High temperatures of up to 104 degrees can help kill bad bacteria.
Toxins absorbed through diet and from the air can ultimately end up in the blood and circulatory system. This in turn can pollute cells, weaken the immune system and lead to any number of diseases. Colon therapy can rid the body of many of these harmful toxins. Lower water temperatures can open the illeocecal valve located at the lower end of the ascending colon. This aids in releasing toxins from that area.
Colon hydrotherapy detoxification is often recommended for people who have candidiasis or an overproduction of candida albicans in the system. Candida albicans is a diploid fungus that lives naturally in the intestines. But sometimes this fungus can produce beyond what is normal and actually perforate the lining of the large intestines. This overabundance can be a direct result of an unhealthy diet rich in sugars and glutens. This condition is called "leaky gut" syndrome. It can cause toxins to leak from the colon and flow through the body. Such toxins are hard to extricate from the body and often continue to recycle. Leaky gut syndrome is a serious condition and a culprit in autoimmune diseases.
Recommended Frequency and Duration
-
Some colon therapists will start a patient out with a regimen of one to three treatments a week for several months. The recommended frequency is directly contingent upon the patient's symptoms or history. Many cancer patients are now doing colon therapy as are drug users and people with autoimmune diseases such as fibromyalgia, Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Healthy patients typically feel more energetic after a treatment. But some chronically ill patients and drug users can experience pain, nausea, cramping and dizziness during a session. These severe symptoms will disappear over time as more toxins are extricated from the colon.
Healthy patients who are taking precautionary measures for their health can do several treatments and repeat every six months or so. Other patients with more severe illnesses may need to undergo treatment for many months or even years.
Colon hydrotherapy detoxification is a safe and effective way to clean the colon. It can be highly beneficial to a person's well-being and can help slow down the aging process. Health food stores can usually recommend a good colon therapist.
