Home Remedy to Cleanse Bowels
Colon cleansing, when done properly and under the supervision of a medical practitioner, is a safe and effective way to rid excess toxins from the body. Depending on the type of foods that are consumed, a colon can become impacted with fecal matter, which will build up and release toxins into the system. Strong laxatives and other forms of cleansing should be avoided, but the use of certain herbs and remedies will provide gentle relief from an impacted colon.-
Apple Cider Vinegar
-
One of the main ingredients of apple cider vinegar is probiotics. A probiotic is a specific nutritional supplement that is found in onions, garlic and apple cider vinegar. When used properly, it works to kill harmful bacteria and leave good bacteria in the intestines. With an impacted colon, bacteria and parasites begin to grow, which can lead to fatigue and other undesirable effects. Not all apple cider vinegars will have the probiotic, thus it is important to check the label for this supplement, which is commonly referred to as "The Mother" supplement.
Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 8 ounces of cold water. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of agave nectar for taste and stir for 30 seconds. Sip this mixture over a period of 15 minutes. Drink this solution three times per day for two weeks to gently cleanse the colon and flush out toxins.
Ginger
-
Ginger has been used to treat various digestive issues, which include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. The gentle properties of ginger soothe the intestinal tract and allow proper evacuation of fecal matter. There are over 20 beneficial compounds within one serving of ginger, which work together to fight bacterial growth and intestinal abnormalities.
Bring 1 cup of water to a rolling boil. Add five drops of ginger essential oil directly to the water and immediately remove from heat. Allow the water and ginger to cool for five minutes before adding 1 to 2 tablespoons of agave nectar for taste. Drink this mixture once per day to relieve constipation as well as to gently remove excess toxins from the intestines.
Barberry Bark
-
The barberry plant is used to treat numerous health issues, but the active ingredient, tannin, is mainly used for the treatment of digestive disorders. When ingested, the compounds work to balance irregularities in bacteria growth as well as help eliminate excessive stimulants that can cause diarrhea.
To make a barberry tea, boil 1 cup of water. Once the water has reached a boil, place 1 teaspoon of dried barberry bark and allow it to steep for 15 minutes. Allow the tea to cool before straining the bark out and pouring it into a cup. Add 1 teaspoon of either honey or agave nectar for taste and drink two times per day for two weeks.
