Cut out the junk. In this case, the junk is food that has caused or can cause a packed colon. Eliminate deep-fried foods, processed foods, refined foods and foods high in saturated fats. Eat foods that are easy to digest, such as fruits and vegetables. As an added benefit, these same foods are high in vitamins and nutrients.

Eat more fiber. One of the biggest reasons for a packed colon is a diet that is too low in fiber. When you eat fiber, it helps to form stools and push wastes along the digestive tract, which leads to regularity. The Harvard School of Public Health recommends that women get 20 g a day and men get 30 g a day. Some examples of healthy fiber are whole grains, wheat bran, oat bran, fruits and vegetables.

Drink water. Eliminate high amounts of empty liquid calories such as alcohol, soda and coffee drinks. Drinking water helps to flush the body of impurities and to lubricate your joints. Water binds with fiber to promote elimination of wastes.

Get a colonic. One fast way to clear out a packed colon is through colon hydrotherapy. In this process, an instrument called a speculum that is attached to a hose is inserted into the rectum. Warm water is filtered in, and waste materials are flushed out. The process takes about an hour.
