How to Do the Deep Cleansing Diet

A deep cleansing diet is one that removes toxins from your system. This type of diet is actually more of a fruit and vegetable diet, as almost all other types of foods are either restricted or eliminated. Typically, it is recommended that if you were to do a deep cleansing diet, you would only take part in it for 2 weeks. After this time, you should introduce other foods back into your diet.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out all processed foods. When you begin a deep cleansing diet, you'll need to eliminate all foods that are processed or contain additives and refined substances.

    • 2

Increase your water intake. Most people don't get enough water in a day's time. If you already drink 64 oz. of water in a day, you're already there and don't really need to up the intake.

    • 3

Eliminate all animal-based products. This would include poultry, fish, pork, beef, dairy and eggs. While these types of foods can be part of a well-balanced diet, they are not a part of a cleansing diet.

    • 4

Substitute the animal-based products with whole-grains and legumes. These will actually be your source of protein during a cleansing diet.

    • 5

Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat. Fruit and vegetables are considered natural internal cleansers. This can be done by substituting a salad for a meal or apples and oranges for snacks. Try steamed vegetables, raw vegetables, basmati rice, mung beans, sweet potatoes, rolled oats, barley and other organic foods.

    • 6

Incorporate stretching and breathing exercises into your day. To add weight to the cleansing diet, you should begin to stretch your entire body upon waking. This should be followed by a period of deep breathing. You may also want to consider incorporating both stretching and breathing after a day at work.
