About Colon Cleansing Kits

Most colon cleansing kits on the market today contain a number of items that are used in an almost step-by-step process. Often times, you'll find both a dietary supplement and a powder mixture to be taken at different points of the day. Some kits also include an herbal tea that you would include as part of your "colon cleansing program." No matter what brand you end up using, each essentially contains some sort of dietary laxative to induce the "cleanse," which is just another word for bowel movement.

Instructions

    • 1

Take 2 tablets, from the cleansing kit, orally with a glass of water. Typically, this should be done in the morning prior to your first meal.

    • 2

Mix the powder supplement (which is usually referred to as a cleanser) with an 8-ounce glass of liquid. Usually, the mixture will come with a pre-measured scoop, so you won't have to worry about measuring. To help with the taste, as most powders will have a fairly foul flavor, mix it with some sort of juice. Drink it about 15 minutes after you've taken the tablets.

    • 3

Eat your regular morning meal another 15 minutes after taking the cleanser. It is recommended that you avoid other stimulants, like caffeine, while taking the colon cleanse.

    • 4

Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water throughout the day. This is very important. While the cleanser may be ridding your system of "waste," it is also ridding your body of water. This can cause dehydration and even an imbalance in your electrolytes.

    • 5

Drink the herbal tea prior to bed (if one is contained in your kit). The tea is also acting as a sort of laxative which will induce a bowel movement in the morning.

    • 6

Continue to use the kit for no more than 1 week. Any product that contains a laxative, even something as natural as senna, can cause a dependency, meaning your body will begin to depend on the substance to produce a bowel movement.
