How to Rid a Body of Heavy Metals

Heavy metals such as lead, mercury and aluminum used to be a part of our daily lives. Unfortunately, these metals have a nasty habit of building up in our bodies and have been linked with chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's and dementia. However, there are some things you can do to rid your body of heavy metals.

Drink more tea. Green and black teas have tannins in them that bind to heavy metals and prevent your digestive tract from absorbing them.

    • 2

Eat more garlic. Some studies have found that massive amounts of garlic have decreased the amount of heavy metals in animals and may help you get rid of heavy metals in your body. You can either add garlic to your meals or take a garlic supplement in pill form.

Add cilantro to your meals. Cilantro is an herb used in many Mexican and Asian dishes to add a sharp taste to food. It's easy to grow and easy to find in grocery stores.

Ingest lean animal products in moderation. The fats in animal products will help you get rid of heavy metals from the body.

    • 5

Take milk thistle tablets. Milk thistle works great in protecting the liver from too much iron and may help rid the body of heavy metals.

Speak to your care provider to see if chelation therapy may be fore you. In this therapy a synthetic solution called EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is injected into your body to help the heavy metals pass out of your body.
