How to Remove Toxins by Brushing
Paavao Airola, a Finnish doctor, first introduced dry skin brushing for detoxification, according to licensed acupuncturist Rebekah Giangreco on the New Moon Family Acupuncture website. The skin is an organ of elimination. It removes one-quarter of the toxin load in our bodies every day. Removing dead skin cells leads to healthy looking skin. Dry brushing stimulates circulation and strengthens the immune system.Things You'll Need

1
Begin dry brushing your feet in vigorous circular motions to remove toxins. Continue up your legs. Brush your hands and arms. Giangreco recommends adding long, sweeping strokes from your feet upwards and inwards from your hands to your shoulders to encourage circulation back to your heart. Use firm pressure on thick-skinned areas such as the soles of the feet.

2
Dry brush your back, abdomen, shoulders and neck. Use counterclockwise circular motions on your abdomen. Brush upwards along your back and downwards from your neck. Use light pressure on thin-skinned or sensitive areas such as the breasts.

Take a shower to remove toxins and other debris. Alternative between hot and cold water to invigorate the skin. Change the water from hot to very cold for three cycles, advises Giangreco.
