How to Detoxify With Juice

Detoxification is a popular method used to improve overall health and rid the body of unwanted cravings for refined sugars and salts. During a detoxification, you limit what you eat to specific cleansing foods. An all-juice detoxification consists of ingesting nothing but fruit and vegetable juices for a short period of time. A juice detox should not last more than two days without the supervision of your physician.

Instructions

    • 1

Read through your juice recipe book and decide which juices you want to make for your two-day detox. You will need enough juice to stay full throughout the day, which usually amounts to a gallon of juice a day. If you think you will get bored by drinking one kind of juice per day, pick several recipes that sound good to you. Pick more vegetable juices than fruit juices, so you don't upset your blood sugar.

    • 2

Make a list of the ingredients necessary for making the juices you have selected. Juices that include leafy greens, broccoli, apples, wheatgrass and root vegetables are best for this detox.

    • 3

Visit your local grocery store and purchase the necessary ingredients. Buy only organic ingredients. Traditional fruits and vegetables are grown with pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers that you cannot entirely remove by washing.

    • 4

Start your detox in the morning of day one. Make your first batch of juice by following the recipe you have chosen. It's best to do the fast over the weekend, or over any two-day period where you can rest at home. If you do need to leave the house, fill your water bottle with the juice so you can sip on it while you are out and about.

    • 5

Avoid exercising during your detox. Avoid any stress. Use the two days to relax.

    • 6

Drink juice whenever you feel hungry over the two-day detoxification. You may notice your breath smells more metallic, or that your body odor changes slightly while detoxing. You can bathe more often and brush your teeth more often to combat these odors, if they bother you. Not everyone experiences this, however.

    • 7

End your detox on the morning of day three. Slowly introduce whole foods back into your diet. Avoid processed foods, meat or heavy meals for the first day.
