How to Drink Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice native to southeastern Asia that has been used for medicinal purposes in Indian and Chinese cultures for over 2,500 years. Turmeric--or Indian saffron--is derived from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, and has a peppery, buttery, warm flavor. The spice, which gives curry its yellow color, is said to lower the risk of cancer and Alzheimer's disease in addition to its benefit as an anti-inflammatory. Drinking turmeric tea, found in health food stores, is one way to get a daily dose of turmeric.
