How to Prepare Kratom Extract

Kratom is a medicinal leaf that grows naturally in Southeast Asia, where it has been used in herbal therapy and medicine for generations. Kratom is used to treat chronic pain, anxiety, depression, diarrhea, and opiate addiction. Although it has not been studied extensively for safety or medical use, it remains an unregulated substance that is legal for purchase in the U.S. and Canada. Kratom extract can be served mixed into foods (like yogurt) or taken in capsule or tea form.

    • 1

Boil the kratom extract in a quart of water. Sage Wisdom advises preparing kratom tea using approximately 1.75 ounces (50 grams) of leaves. According to Kratom Plateau, the comparable dosage of powdered extract is approximately 0.35-0.7 ounces (10-20 grams), but keep in mind that potency of kratom can vary greatly. Adjust the dosage based on the strength of the extract and the intended use of the tea. Smaller doses of kratom typically function as a stimulant; larger doses have a more sedative effect. Also, take your body weight into account when measuring doses of the extract.

    • 2

Stir the liquid. Unlike using kratom leaves for making tea, you do not need to use a strainer.

    • 3

Boil the liquid again until the volume is reduced from a quart (or one liter) to around 3.5 fluid ounces (or 100 milliliters). You want to boil it down to a smaller volume so that the tea can be quickly consumed.

    • 4

Store the tea in the refrigerator. You may safely store it for up to five days. According to Kratom Shop, adding alcohol to the beverage will help preserve it for many months.

    • 5

Drink. Add a sweetener like honey or sugar to your tea if you like. The darker the color, the stronger the tea will be.
