How to Get Rid of Foot Odor With Vinegar

Foot odor, formally known as bromhydrosis, can be an embarrassing social problem. The odor is usually caused by the bacteria that feed on excess sweat. Our feet have numerous sweat glands, and when covered in socks and shoes they become a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. A strong odor can also be a sign of an athlete's foot infection. If you are looking for a way to treat foot odor, consider vinegar as a natural alternative to commercial products.

Instructions

  1. Soak

    • 1

Pour 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1 quart of warm water into a bucket. The bucket should be wide enough for you to place your feet inside.

    • 2

Soak your feet in the mixture for 10 to 20 minutes. The acid in the vinegar will kill the odor-causing bacteria.

    • 3

Dry your feet completely with a clean, dry towel. Moisture encourages bacterial growth.

    • 4

Repeat this process several times a week to maintain foot odor control.

    Eyedropper Application

    • 5

Place equal amounts of vinegar and rubbing alcohol in a small bowl. Mix to blend ingredients.

    • 6

Place the tip of an eyedropper into the mixture and squeeze the bulb to suck the mixture into the dropper.

    • 7

Use the dropper to place the mixture in between your toes and on the soles of your feet. The alcohol and vinegar will kill any fungus or bacteria and eliminate foot odor. Repeat as needed.
