Castor Oil & Baking Soda Remedies

Castor oil and baking soda are used in numerous home remedies. Both of these substances have been used safely and effectively to treat common aches and pains and minor illnesses. Look for castor oil in most drug stores, and find baking soda in most grocery stores. Before using any home remedy, consult your physician.
  1. Castor Oil Pack

    • To ease aches and pains or relieve a pulled muscle, use a castor oil pack. Saturate a clean cloth with castor oil, wring it out until it's slightly damp and place over the affected area. Cover with some plastic wrap, then a towel and heating pad if desired. The castor oil will penetrate the skin and help alleviate pain. Castor oil packs can be used for arthritis, bursitis, stomach pains, fibroids, sprains and strains.

Castor Oil and Baking Soda for Warts

    • Massage a few drops of castor oil into the wart and cover it with first aid tape or apply a bandage. Repeat this procedure twice a day until the wart is gone. Alternatively, mix 1 tsp. of castor oil with just enough baking soda to form a paste. Apply the paste a couple of times a day, and cover with a bandage. Repeat until the wart disappears.

    Baking Soda for Athelete's Foot

    • To treat fungus on your feet, especially between your toes, apply a baking soda paste. Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda with enough water to form a paste and massage onto the affected area. Rinse off with warm water and dry thoroughly.

    Baking Soda Toothpaste

    • Mix baking soda with enough hydrogen peroxide to form a paste. Brush as you normally would with regular toothpaste on heavily-stained areas of your teeth, avoiding the gums. Repeat as often as you like. Rinse well with cool water after brushing.
