How to Treat Bladder Infections With Wild Roses

Wild roses, also called Brier and Dog roses, are both edible and medicinal. Rose hips are the most commonly used part of the plant, although petals and dried leaves can also be used. Rose hips are rich in vitamins A, B3, C, D, E and P, and iron, phosphorus, calcium and zinc, and have numerous medicinal properties, including controlling blood pressure, lowering saturated fat in the body and treating bladder infections.

Bladder infection symptoms including burning sensations when urinating, cloudy urine, and pain or heaviness in the bladder. Treat bladder infections with a tea that includes rose hips, cramp bark, uva ursi and marshmallow for symptom relief. Marshmallow soothes the urinary tract while cramp bark reduces pain and inflammation. Uva ursi is an overall fighter of bladder infection, and rose hips contain large amounts of vitamin C, which also fight the infection.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 quart water
  • 1/2 tsp. rose hips
  • 1/2 tsp. cramp bark
  • 1/2 tsp. marshmallow root
  • 1/2 tsp. corn silk
  • 1 tsp. uva ursi
  • Measuring spoon
  • Measuring cup
  • Pot
  • Plate or pot cover
  • Strainer

Instructions

      Measure 1 quart of water and pour it into a pot. Add 1/2 tsp. each of rose hips, cornsilk, cramp bark, and marshmallow root to the pot. Add 1 tsp. uva ursi to the pot.

      Simmer the mixture for a two to three minutes. Turn off the stove and cover the pot, allowing it to steep for 20 minutes.

      Strain the herbs. Drink 2 to 4 cups of the mixture daily until the bladder infection is gone, which should be in a week or less. Drink the tea for two more days after infection has cleared up to make sure it is completely out of your system.
