Uses for Vinegar on Toes
Vinegar is a mild acid with antiseptic properties. It is popular as a household cleaner for washing windows or removing hard water deposits. And, of course, vinegar is an important ingredient in salad dressings and marinades. But, you can also use vinegar to treat several afflictions of the feet and toes.-
Athlete's Foot
-
Athlete's foot is a fungal infection that causes dry, scaling skin and itchy blisters, particularly between the toes. Soaking your feet in a gallon of warm water mixed with 1/4 cup white vinegar can help relieve the itching and neutralize the odor of athlete's foot.
Deodorizer
-
If you routinely suffer from foot odor, regularly soaking your feet in vinegar water can help relieve the problem. Vinegar kills odor-causing bacteria.
Calluses
-
Soak feet in a solution of 1/4 cup vinegar to 1 gallon of warm water for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove your feet from the water, and rub callused areas with a pumice stone to exfoliate rough, dry skin.
Toenail Fungus
-
Soaking feet in vinegar is a popular home remedy for toenail fungus, but according to Dr. Tracey Vlahovic, a podiatrist with Temple University, vinegar can't penetrate the toenail to get to the fungus. Oral medications are the most effective treatment of toenail fungus.
