Soy Powder Bath Recipe

Soy milk powder, found at supermarkets and health-food stores, is beneficial as a skin-softening agent, which makes it a soothing choice to keep on hand for a soak in the tub. Soy milk powder can be used alone or as the foundation for bath preparations and recipes.
  1. Benefits of Soy MIlk Powder

    • A simple, natural ingredient without chemicals or strong fragrances, soy milk powder contains amino acids that work to remove dead surface skin cells. This action smooths and softens the skin, imparting a light glow.

    Preparations

    • To soothe skin damaged by sunburn, allergic reactions, heat rash or multiple mosquito bites, combine oatmeal, almond meal and cornstarch with soy milk powder.

Mix soy milk powder and honey for a refreshing milk-and-honey bath.

For an herbal or floral soy milk bath, add fresh or dried herbs like spearmint, lemon grass, chamomile flowers, rose petals, lavender buds or marigold flowers when adding soy milk powder to the running water.

Pour 1 cup of chamomile tea and 4 cups of soy milk powder under running bath water for a beautiful golden-colored bath.

For a total immersion experience, mix up 3 gallons of soy milk and add to the bath water for a long soak.

    Recipes

    • Simple soy milk bath recipes start with 1 cup of powdered soy milk. Mix with 1 tablespoon each of a couple of different moisturizing oils, such as jojoba oil, shea butter, grapeseed oil and safflower oil. Add 1 teaspoon of a fragrant oil such as lavender or rose. Combine all ingredients thoroughly, store in a sealed container, and keep refrigerated. At bath time, add 3 tablespoons of the mixture to the running water.

    Gifts

    • Homemade soy milk bath products make inexpensive but thoughtful gifts for family and friends. Put them in sealed decorative jars or zip-closure plastic bags; label the containers with the date and instructions for use. You can even make a single-use portion and enclose it in a greeting card.
