Amish Cure for Diarrhea
The Amish have developed countless remedies to everyday afflictions over the last few hundred years. Because the Amish abstain from modern technology, their natural cures are usually made up of ordinary household products. But these procedures, while simple and raw, often prove to be just as effective as store-bought products and medicines. An Amish folk remedy for diarrhea is a perfect example of this.-
Understand the Cause of Diarrhea
-
Diarrhea is usually the body's natural defense against toxins in the stomach. For this reason, you should never try to completely eliminate diarrhea. Countering one of the body's primary defense mechanisms is never recommended, but sometimes it is necessary to briefly relieve the discomfort. Before seeking a remedy, be sure that your diarrhea is not an underlying symptom of a more serious condition. Seek medical attention anytime diarrhea lasts more than a few days.

Poor or unpurified water is a major cause for diarrhea among the Amish. There are several working remedies in this case, but one of the more effective is black pepper and kelp. Eating a moderate amount of these two ingredients mixed together can slow down the process. Taking 1 tbsp. of acidophilus with a meal prepared with a questionable water source may also prove to be preventive.
Another preventive measure is to drink a small amount of lemon juice, honey or vinegar about 30 minutes before meals. In addition, sometimes mixing a glass of water with a few tablespoons of lemon juice or a few drops of grapefruit seed extract can wipe out an infection completely. Repeat this process a few times a day for best results.
